Sunflowers

Sunflower (orange) six colour screen print. In Spring 2024 I grew sunflowers from seed. They were multi coloured and very beautiful. I’m not a natural gardener but growing sunflowers, how hard could it be? I hadn’t taken into account the intrepid snails that live in our garden. It became a battle, but I won. The sunflowers made me very happy and the bees loved them too.

This is the first of series of screen prints in honour of those beautiful flowers. I took photographs and then made prints from the gel plate using the extraneous marks from the plate in the print. The marks give added texture to the final print. The start of a life cycle series of prints.
