From the Sun
From the Sun
The obsession with sunflowers continues. I love the whole life cycle from seed to planting, flowering and then the sadness when they are over. I’m particularly drawn to the shapes that the flower heads make against the sky. Sunflowers are especially joyful, yellow, orange and reds against bright blue turquoise skies.
This screen print was a departure for me, I did a few proofs before completing the final print to test out different colours and levels of diffusion dither.
The image on the left uses diffusion dither at 160lpi and the image on the right is a high contrast image saved as cmyk. After completing the proofs I made annotations to the image, lightening the petals, adjusting the diffusion dither to 120 lpi.
Acetates at 100lpi, 160lpi and the third adjusted image making the petals lighter in Photoshop and saving at 120lpi. This was the acetate I used to print the final image.
